Dirk Yates

As Legal Director, Dirk has extensive experience in all aspects of property law, with a specialty in the acquisition, leasing and disposal of commercial, retail and industrial property. Dirk has acted in the acquisition, leasing and disposal of major retail, industrial and commercial assets, and the leasing of all asset types down the eastern seaboard. Before joining Sentinel, Dirk has acted for Sentinel as an external solicitor since 2015.

Dirk facilitates Sentinel’s transactions with a focus on providing frank and targeted advice, ensuring commercial and practical results while protecting Sentinel’s legal interests. He understands the importance of timing and ensuring Sentinel’s stakeholders achieve their desired outcomes.

With excellent academic credentials (including 1st class honours in Law and two academic prizes in Corporate Law and Commercial Law), Dirk provides both technical legal skill combined with a commercial and pragmatic approach to problem solving. This practical and efficient approach to legal practice and advice was honed through several years as in house counsel for major UK companies in London, and through many years of managing diverse family-owned property holdings.

Dirk was admitted to practice law in Queensland in 2008, and in the United Kingdom in 2013. Dirk holds a Bachelor of Commerce, a Graduate Certificate in Applied Finance and Investment and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons 1st class).
