Role Overview

Reporting to the Head of Development Management, the Construction Project Manager will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of new developments and major upgrades across our national portfolio. This includes preparing construction feasibility inputs, managing tender and contract processes, overseeing site delivery, and ensuring programme, cost, and quality outcomes are achieved.

The role requires a hands-on leader who can confidently manage internal and external stakeholders across all project stages. The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate a skillset across the retail, industrial and commercial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain preliminary construction estimates to support development feasibilities
  • Identify and assess site constraints such as access, trunk infrastructure, drainage, and existing structures
  • Contribute to staging strategies and early construction programmes to support project planning
  • Work closely with Development Managers and consultants to ensure construction feasibility, buildability, and cost alignment
  • Participate in design reviews, provide input on trade packaging, and ensure quality of construction documentation
  • Lead contractor procurement, including preparation of tender briefs, assessment of submissions, and contract negotiation
  • Finalise head contractor agreements and financier side deeds in accordance with internal and lender requirements
  • Assess contractor progress claims.
  • Coordinate with quantity surveyors (internal and financier-appointed) on cost planning, progress claims, and variations
  • Manage contractor performance, construction quality, safety standards, and statutory compliance throughout delivery
  • Oversee construction programme reporting, cost tracking, and risk management across all active projects
  • Coordinate with tenant representatives to ensure delivery of lessor works, site access, and timely handover
  • Procure all final approvals, as-built documentation, and service manuals for handover to property and centre managers
  • Ensure defects are resolved and project closeout reporting is completed to Sentinel’s standards.

Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Project / Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience delivering construction projects in the property sector
  • Demonstrated experience in retail, industrial and commercial construction delivery.
  • Strong understanding of construction programming, budgeting, statutory approvals, and contract administration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficient in construction management software and reporting tools.
