After being nominated for a United Nations honour for its efforts to improve the environment, Warren Ebert’s Sentinel Property Group is taking further steps to be an “exemplary corporate citizen”.
Executives from the Brisbane-based syndicator have been invited to attend Momentum 2024 in Sydney next week, an event created and hosted by the Commonwealth Bank and its CEO Matt Comyn to propel businesses towards a more sustainable future.
The star speaker at the March 12 talkfest is American environmental activist Erin Brockovich, whose campaign for justice was made into the Academy Award winning movie of the same name, starring Julia Roberts.
While Sentinel CEO Ebert will miss the event because it clashes with the Large Format Retail Association annual conference in Melbourne, the group will be represented by chief experience officer Michael Sherlock and director of property Tim Kent.
The group has spent millions of dollars installing solar power at many of its properties, including a $4.7m rooftop system at Caneland Central shopping centre in Mackay which has also achieved its first-ever 5-star NABERS water rating.
Sentinel also completed a $2m solar power upgrade at DFO Cairns shopping centre, whilst its River Quays office building in Townsville also has a substantial solar system.
