Sentinel shows support for children affected by domestic violence
March 16, 2017
Sentinel Property Group is proud to support the work of Zephyr Education Inc in providing essential education supplies to children impacted by domestic violence.
The Zephyr charity plays a crucial role in helping children at domestic violence shelters to make as smooth a transition as possible to a new school.
Children of domestic violence are often uprooted from their homes and forced to seek refuge in shelters, generally with nothing but the clothes on their back. Without warning, their education is immediately disrupted.
Zephyr helps children at domestic violence shelters to continue on with their education by supplying them with everything they need to start at their new school such as books, uniforms, shoes, socks, bags, hats etc. The positive effect of this is two-fold as it helps the children make an easier transition to a new school and it eases the burden on the mother.
This is a great example of a practical, on-the-ground support service that makes an immediate and real difference to the lives of children impacted by domestic violence. Zephyr is a charity where every dollar donated goes directly to those in need and Sentinel is proud to lend its support, both at a corporate level and through our network of properties and investors, to increase funds and awareness for their important work.
Zephyr was established by a group of volunteers in 2013 to support two domestic violence shelters in Brisbane. It now assists children in 42 shelters throughout Queensland.
Zephyr President, Isabella Bevan, said the organisation was extremely grateful to Sentinel for its corporate support and efforts to raise further funds, profile and awareness of this important service for families whose lives are disrupted by domestic violence.
