Ice, ice baby: skating rink open

Today’s the day. The water has frozen and the surface is smooth as silk.

The city’s Winter Wonderland is ready for hundreds of keen ice-skaters to give the sport a go. Orange City Council deputy mayor Chris Gryllis welcomed the arrival of the ice rink just as school holidays begin.

“(Council) is always mindful of entertainment for small kids and big kids,” councillor Gryllis said. “We’ll do what we can to assist and we hope it becomes a permanent fixture here.” Cr Gryllis said council was grateful to management of Orange Homemakers Centre for hosting the rink in the former Sam’s Warehouse building.

The doors open from 10am with sessions scheduled through the day and groups bookings welcome.
